Our Story — From Hacienda Lives to Industry Leader
In the 1970s, amid significant changes in Peru, Cecilia Llosa arrived in Lima after Hacienda Lives, her husband's estate, was expropriated during the agrarian reform. Along with her came many families who had worked on the estate, migrating to the city in search of new opportunities. Seeing the needs of her people and driven by her entrepreneurial spirit, Cecilia decided to start a small garment workshop, offering jobs to those who came knocking on her door in search of work.
For years, she ran small businesses with different partners, but in 1990, with a clearer vision and an even stronger sense of purpose, she made a life-changing decision: to found Lives S.A.C., a company that would not only create high-quality garments but also transform lives.
With a loan from her father and the support of her three daughters — Cecilia, Patricia, and Verónica — Lives was born. Its name honored the people from Hacienda Lives who began this new chapter with her and remain key to the factory today.
From the start, Lives aimed to become a world-class Peruvian garment manufacturer, with quality and ethical production at its core. They began by offering manufacturing services to exporters, welcoming regular audits, training staff, and raising standards.
What began as a small workshop in a 350 m² rented space with 18 sewing machines, one engineer, and seven workers has grown into a leading name in Peru’s textile industry. Under Cecilia Llosa’s leadership, Lives expanded while staying true to its values: people, quality, and sustainability.
Now, with over 30 years of history, Lives continues to lead as a sustainable textile company in Peru, creating timeless garments, uplift its people, and work toward a more sustainable future.
